How much does product photography cost? Prices and estimates

The price of a product photograph is not just about pressing the shutter. Rates vary depending on the type of image, the number of SKUs, the required views, retouching and the intended use of each file. This guide provides a simple method to estimate the investment and Epic Studio's rates for preparing a catalogue with purpose.

How much does product photography cost?

As a reference, at Epic Studio sessions start from €6 per photo for footwear and photography with models, and go up to €10 per photo for Flat Lay clothing. We also offer accessories from €8, Hollow Man clothing from €9, AI photography from €2 and product video from €50 per video. These are entry prices for planning; the exact figure is calculated after reviewing the briefing.

What determines the price of a project

Two products of the same size can require very different productions. Before comparing numbers, it’s useful to describe what each image needs to solve and which files the e-commerce team requires.

  • Technique and style. A packshot on a clean background, a lifestyle composition and a garment with an invisible mannequin imply different preparations.
  • Product preparation. Ironing, assembly, cleaning, set construction or coordinating a model adds studio time.
  • Number of product references. A large batch allows preparation to be spread out and maintains a more efficient workflow; a small order concentrates fixed costs.
  • Views and variants. Each angle, color, detail or final format can count as an additional image.
  • Retouching and delivery. Complex corrections, composites, special cutouts or editable files are quoted based on the briefing.

The type of image affects the rate

The useful question is not only “how much does a photo cost?”, but “what work does that photo need to do?”. A main catalog image prioritizes fidelity and repeatability. A lifestyle scene requires art direction and, sometimes, a model or props. An invisible mannequin requires photographing the garment in several positions and combining them during retouching.

Volume and number of views

The web rate is designed for orders starting at 20 photographs. At that volume we optimize preparation, lighting and the retouching workflow. We accept smaller orders, but a 50% surcharge to cover studio setup. When planning your catalog, separate the number of products from the number of final images: ten references with three views each are thirty photos.

Retouching, formats and usage rights

The base price includes the standard retouching necessary for a professional delivery: light and color adjustments, routine cleaning and file preparation. If the project requires reconstructions, composites, removal of difficult elements or many variants, we define that before production.

We deliver files in the formats required by your channel, such as JPG, PNG, TIFF, PSD or WebP, with web-optimized and high-resolution versions when needed. The quote should make clear which formats, sizes, backgrounds and usage rights are included.

What the base price includes

Each assignment begins with a discussion about references, publishing channel, style, quantity and target date. Then we schedule the receipt of the products in Torrevieja, the shoot, retouching and the digital delivery.

  • Briefing and production planning.
  • Lighting and workstation setup.
  • Photography and consistency control across references.
  • Standard retouching and export in the agreed formats.
  • Digital delivery and coordination of product returns.

If you need a more elaborate art direction, a model, props, layered files or specific post-production, we add them transparently to the proposal.

Examples for preparing a quote

The following calculations are indicative and show how to apply our base rates before taxes:

  1. 30 shoe photos: 30 × 6 € = 180 €.
  2. 50 photos of bags and accessories: 50 × 8 € = 400 €.
  3. 40 Hollow Man clothing photos: 40 × 9 € = 360 €.
  4. 10 shoe photos: the base would be €60; since it is an order of fewer than 20 photos, with the additional 50% it would be 90 €.
  5. Express service: when scheduling and the product allow, the standard rate is doubled and delivery can be arranged within 24 hours.

The final calculation may vary if an item requires multiple views, special preparation or advanced retouching. For that reason we always request a product list or visual examples before confirming the figure.

How to compare photography quotes

A professional quote is better understood when it describes the deliverables, not just the unit price. Check these points before deciding:

  • Is the amount per final image, per product, or per day?
  • How many views, backgrounds and variants does each product include?
  • Is standard retouching included, and how are special retouching tasks priced?
  • What formats, sizes, color profiles and usage rights will you receive?
  • Are there minimums, surcharges for small orders or rush fees?
  • Who coordinates transportation, returns and the actual delivery date?

A slightly higher quote can be more cost-effective if it prevents re-shoots, file corrections or delays to the catalog launch.

How to save without sacrificing quality

  • Group references and send a clear brief to reduce changes during the session.
  • Define before shooting which views are mandatory and which are optional.
  • Prepare products clean, complete and labeled so the studio can begin without delays.
  • Use a consistent technique across the collection and reserve special setups for the products that truly need them.
  • Request a small sample first when testing a new style; this lets you validate the result before producing the full run.

How we work at Epic Studio

You send us the type and number of products, visual references, publication channel and desired date. We review the proposal, coordinate shipping to the Torrevieja studio and produce the images with a consistent approach. After retouching, we deliver the files digitally and arrange the return of the products.

We work with companies across Spain and with clients in Europe. If you need a fast response, indicate the timeframe in your initial message so we can confirm express service availability.

Frequently asked questions

Is the price per product or per photograph?

It is usually calculated per final image, but the number of references, views and the required preparation can change the estimate. We detail this in the proposal so you can compare equivalent projects.

Is retouching included?

Standard retouching is included in the base rate. Complex composites or corrections are quoted separately when required by the brief.

Is there a minimum order?

Published rates start from 20 photos. For smaller orders we apply an additional 50% to cover fixed preparation costs.

How does the express service work?

When the schedule, the product and the brief allow, we can arrange delivery within 24 hours. The express service is billed at twice the standard rate.

How can I get an accurate quote?
